YOUTH MINISTRY

Youth Ministry in Church of Central Africa Presbyterian, Synod of Zambia is known as Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF), and we seek to be witnesses of Jesus Christ to our fellow youths (13-35 years) in  churches, homes, schools, colleges and wherever God has sent us.

Our Goal is:

To transform the lives of our young people holistically (spiritually, physically and emotionally) by demonstrating the unconditional love of God so that together we can become effective servants of our  Lord Jesus Christ in this world. We seek to be salt and the light in this world (Matt. 5: 13-16).

Our historical Background:

Christian Youth Fellowship in Church of Central Africa Presbyterian, Synod of Zambia was first established in Church of Central Africa Presbyterian, Synod of Livingstonia in 1962 by a missionary known as Miss Mackillen from Scotland. Its original vision was to help young people grow in their Christian faith and become effective tools for evangelism in the church. In 1969 Fredah Algie from Ireland took over as a Youth Worker in CCAP Livingstonia Synod. As a Church we have maintained the original vision but we have sharpened and added our other objectives to address the needs or challenges of our young people today.

In 1971 Christian Youth Fellow spread acrossed into eastern Zambia (Chasefu Presbytry in Lundazi District) but still under CCAP Livingstonia Synod.  The youth in Tumbuka language is known as “UKIRANO” which means the “the Growing up” spread like fire to all congregations in Zambia, especially in eastern part of Zambia (Chama and Muyombe in the North).  When CCAP Synod of Livingstonia officially accepted the formation of Christian Youth Fellowship groups in all Congregations and prayer houses in 1974, the youth groups CYF) were automatically established in Zambia but still under CCAP Livingstonia in Malawi. When CCAP Synod of Zambia was established in 1984, Christian Youth Fellowship was also officially adopted and has produced capable Christian leaders of the church. It has contributed greatly to the development of the church both numerically and spiritually.

Our Purpose:

We are excited to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ:  “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matt 28: 18-20). Christian Youth Fellowship seeks to touch the untouchable within and outside our communities with the unconditional love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hence in CCAP Synod of Zambia, CYF is used as effective tool for evangelism. Through Christian Youth Fellowship not only the lives of our young people are transformed holistically, in our churches, homes, schools but also communities are transformed by the power of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. People’s lives are being changed because of the evangelistic messages that the youths preach in different places.  Secondly, the spread of HIV/AIDS among our young people in our communities is being reduced because we are empowering our young people with the word of God and also providing them with skills in order to reduce poverty among the youths regardless of their religious affiliation. Christian Youth Fellowship has 30 hectares of Land in Kamoto Village, Chief Magodi,  Lundazi District,  where we are developing CCAP Youth Training Farm so that we can train young people in modern methods of farming and other relevant courses to reduce youth unemployment in Zambia. Please pray with us as we seek to address the needs of our youths today and tomorrow.
